Well, it sure has been a while, hasn’t it? New Year’s celebrations are wrapping up, and so does the development of Terraria’s 1.4.5 update. Everyone has been on the edge of their seats, hoping to see what the next newsletter brings to the table about the update and how close the release is. Now, it looks like the sun is peeking through the horizon as we have started getting months named for release.
For those who have been watching and waiting, you may have seen our own blog going over the details of what we knew then and the first delay that pushed back the initial release window. Of course, this is still the same update, but it’s time to continue off from where we left and see what else will be added.
More Crossover Content - Palworld
Harken back to earlier in 2025 when Palworld dropped a major update featuring Terraria content. Well, it does not stop at Palworld adding content to Terraria - content from Palworld is also added to Terraria in the form of Pals.

How many Pals are we getting? Do we know which Pals will arrive? Are there any more features that will be added? Well, these are all secrets that we will get to find out on the day of the update. We do know of at least one Pal that will arrive: Digtoise. It will be able to dig and tunnel around you and gather broken blocks. Who else do you think will be added?
This is in addition to the earlier announcement of a Dead Cells crossover slated for 1.4.5. Now, we get a 2-for-1 deal in crossover content. What a steal!
RC Cars - Drives anyone up a wall
If the Kwad Racer wasn’t enough, how about an RC Car? That’s right, another vehicle will be added to Terraria for more transport fun. However, the RC Car isn’t just driving back and forth - it can also drive up, down, and all around walls. Build a massive obstacle course for your introductory RC Car Race that spans across the whole world however you want!

Head in the clouds
There are more secret seeds to be introduced in 1.4.5. One such secret seed adds a famous type of survival format in Minecraft. That’s right, we get to see skyblock in Terraria. No land, nothing below, just the endless expanse of the void below, and a cloud platform above.

It’s safe to say that the skyblock seed will be challenging, but still possible to complete. The developers have teased images of what to expect and playtesting the seed, so with all that hard work, it should be worth the wait.
Honourable Mentions
As 1.4.5 began reaching the end of the line, many of the new features dropped have been small tweaks, changes, or additions. Alone, they’re not too much, but altogether, it’s shaping up to be a big update. So, let’s go over a few of the smaller features.
The most daunting part of Terraria has finally been addressed - the crafting UI. As Terraria grew in size, so has the number of crafting recipes, and with more recipes means more sifting through menus to find the recipe you want. Now, we have a better menu that now allows for searching specific recipes. No more remembering where the recipe was, just the name!
That being said, another daunting part of the early game is the onslaught of slimes. With so many coming at you from left and right or raining from the sky, it can be hard to fend off against enemies with just a Copper Shortsword. Thus, we get two new weapons made of slime - the Slime Whip and the Slime Spear. These new weapons allow for better early game options, and with the ability to slime opponents, it couples with fire-based weapons to burn them up.

Lastly, if you have a look around, you might have noticed that the biomes seem a little different. New biome backgrounds have been added to the game, bringing with it more life and variation with each world. Can you find them all?
Journey’s End, the 5th time
After years of waiting, 1.4.5 is slated to drop on January 27th. The countdown has started, and all these little additions will be unleashed to the world! With less than two weeks to wait, it’s time to gear up.
