If you have been creating a server recently, you may have noticed a new button showing up below Create a Server. It looked just the same, but with a little purple “preview” label. For those that took the dive, this is the new server creation process!
This new button is now here to stay, changing up how server creation works for a more streamlined experience and fresh look. It’s faster, it’s cleaner, and easier to navigate. Why don’t we take a tour?
Browsing the server list
Let’s start things off with the first thing you see: the game browser. You can search server options by Games or Minecraft. Each game will have either of the two buttons: Install or Show All. Games with Install will take you right to the server setup, while games with Show All will display every option that is available for that game.
The first page you will see when you create a new server. Options can be filtered by Games, Minecraft, and if they are compatible with your current plan.
Options can also be filtered by plan. Each game and modpack has a memory requirement listed, so to quickly sort through available options, select the Compatible button. All servers available on the plan will be displayed.
Searching made better
You can search servers by Games or Minecraft. If you select the Minecraft option, you will see only the server options available just for Minecraft. If that is all you are looking for, then look no further than here!
The one-stop home for all your Minecraft needs. Create a vanilla server, install a modpack, or set up your own custom server all under one page.
Here, each server option is split into different categories. For vanilla servers and plugins, this will be under the Minecraft category. If you want a more custom experience with mods, these will now be under the Advanced Installation tab.
What about modpacks? These are now sorted into categories and can be searched from any page! Popular modpacks such as All The Mods and Feed The Beast can now be found in their own category, allowing you to quickly find the next modpack of that series. Need a modpack with a specific theme? You can also search for a modpack by category, so if you’re looking for a modpack with magic and exploration, or simply a tech modpack, check out the Filters menu and click on the tags to find the right modpack.
Every month, a new set of popular modpacks are added here. Not sure what to play next? Try some of these.
Keep an eye out: every month, we update the Popular This Month category with some of the most trending modpacks available to install. As always, if you can’t find a modpack you want installed on a server, contact support and we can help!
Server creation made simple
Just like before, once you have made your choice, the final settings will need to be applied. This is where you can input the server address, pick a region if you haven’t yet, and the version of the game or modpack the server will be using. However, things are a little different.
Just like before, but much cleaner. Allocating Memory to the server is now done automatically so you can get started sooner.
If there are any issues setting up a server, a small indicator will show up where the problem is. For example, let’s say we try to make another server with the same name as one we already created. A small red indicator will show up, telling us the domain is already taken. This message will go away once you pick a unique name for the server address.
What about allocating memory to the server? By default, a server will now be created with the maximum memory available on the plan. If you have purchased a 6GB Titan Tier plan, a new server will be created with 6GB. Conversely, if the minimum requirements for the server are above the available memory, a notice will display with the required plan to create a server.
