Minecraft Live: September 2026 is over, and it brought some groundbreaking news. For the first time in almost 15 years, Minecraft is getting a new vanilla dimension. There were several smaller announcements in this broadcast, but the one that has everyone talking is the announcement about “The Sift”: Minecraft’s upcoming dimension. So let’s take a look at the details.

On September 26th, the multiannual event “Minecraft Live” happened once again. There were a few announcements like Minecraft Dungeons II, a new type of resource pack called “Sound Effects Pack”, some updates to the Minecraft World theme park, and a new biome, the Ice Caves.
The big 2 announcements were Minecraft Dungeons II, which released on September 29th, and that one of the new dimensions found in Minecraft Dungeons II is coming to Minecraft next year. This dimension is called “The Sift”. This was announced in a 22-second video that simply shows a pink grassland with trees in the distance, along with a small mob called a “Blub”.

The Blub is a cute, stubby little fella, somewhat resembling a rabbit. It is passive, and it can squeak. What more do you really need in a mob? We don’t know much about its behavior, drops, or anything else yet.
There will be several biomes in this dimension. The two we know about are called the Meadows and Carapace. These are the two biomes seen in the 22-second clip. The Meadows are the pink grasslands, and the Carapace seems to be the gray forest in the background.

As far as hard information goes, that’s about all we have at this point. However, we may be able to glean some information from Minecraft Dungeons II, now that it has been out for a few days.
If you take a look at the wiki page for The Sift in Minecraft Dungeons II, there is a lot more information. We have an extensive list of passive mobs, companions, enemies, bosses, and locations.
Notably, in Dungeons II, you can enter The Sift using the Deep Dark portal. If I had to guess, I would say it’s very likely this will be the case in Minecraft as well.

When will The Sift be released for Minecraft? We don’t know exactly. We do know it will be some time in 2027, but nothing more specific than that yet.
It would be reasonable to assume that The Sift is a relatively endgame dimension. If you have to enter the deep dark to activate it, it will be difficult to get to. And it may require materials from other dimensions to open the portal, similar to how you need blaze powder to make Eyes of Ender to enter the End. If you want to get a vanilla server going before The Sift releases, you could spend time preparing gear and materials so you can be ready for whatever it takes to activate the portal, and whatever awaits you on the other side. Or, most importantly, you can prepare a grand room to hold all of your Blubs. If you want that server to be easy to set up, and want to not worry about lag, then Akliz is the place to go.
